The Yachticon story
Yachticon was founded in 1982 by Astrid Nagel. The first product was Aqua Clean for preserving drinking water. It originated from the idea of Herbert Nagel (who had spent his life importing sweets and other snacks) to produce a liquid product that would not clump together like powder or be as expensive as tablets. Powder and tablets were already on the market at the time. The neighbor Dr. Winkelmann, a food chemist who developed the recipe, and an editor from the Bild newspaper, who occasionally published small editorial articles on the subject of water conservation, helped us get started.
The first production then took place in the kitchen, later in the company's own cellar. Three sales representatives were quickly found who ensured a steady increase in sales. Among other things, the first small trade fair stands at the Hanseboot and boot in Düsseldorf ensured a rapid increase in awareness. Exports were also an important pillar of the company's history right from the start.
In 1992, Oliver Nagel joined the business after successfully completing his training as a business economist at the Hamburg Business Academy. He had to choose between confectionery and boat care, but his hobby, sailing, was the deciding factor. At the time, the office was still located in his parents' home and sales were handled by a warehouse service provider. From the initial ten products, the number of products grew continuously to over 1000 products for boat care and maintenance.

The move in 1999
In 1999, the company moved to Norderstedt Glashütte. There, the company moved into an office with a large warehouse on a 3500m² site. In the beginning there were several subtenants who gradually filed for bankruptcy. This was always a good fit, as the company grew every year and needed more space.
As the space has now become too small again, our new company headquarters will open in the same industrial estate in 2016. Approximately 5000m² of warehouse and 1000m² of office space will be created on around 8600m².
